This year's Gore-Tex Transalpine Run started with a completely new route in its 12th jubilee. Almost 400 Teams met in Garmisch - Partenkirchen to cover a distance of 248 kilometers and 14,862 meters of altitude in less than seven days and to finish without injuries in Brixen.

This year's stages: Garmisch - Partenkirchen → Lermoos → Imst → Mandarfen - Pitztal → Sölden → St. Leonhard in Passeier → Sarnthein → Brixen!

At 10 am on a sunny Sunday morning about 800 runners were off to the first stage. Sadly, after a few kilometers the first participants had to leave the race because of injuries.

The hardest stage went from Imst to Mandarfen - Pitztal. The athletes had to manage 50 km and 3,037 meters of altitude. The weather conditions were not the very best so the runners were accompanied with a mix of rain and sun during the day.

After the „queen’s stage“ a couple of more runners left the Transalpine Run because of more injuries and exhaustion. The run for massage appointments increased at this time. Some runners underestimated the regeneration process. Since years we’re supported by skin friendly recovery products from “Spitzner”.

Every day an hour before kick-off most of the participants came along for a K-Active Kinesiotape. Correctly applied from a Physiotherapist it gives you great support and relief. Here we also have a great support with K-Active Kinesiotape for years.

As every year we offered the runners a „Blackroll“ area. Everybody had the possibility to speed up the own recovery by using the Blackroll or one of the Blackballs. Also a new Blackroll member this year, called “Booster”. Every Blackroll could be “pimped” and so we were glad to have an extra goodie for the runners to increase their recovery time.

Every finisher was welcomed by best weather conditions in Brixen followed by the slogan “pain is for the moment, but glory is forever” :)

It was another very exciting week for the Outdoor Physio Team. We met a lot of new people and also good old fans and friends. We are very proud that our fan community grows every year and that we had the privilege to support many runners on their way to Brixen.

Also a huge “thank you” to our this year's crew – Joana, Sophia, Laura, Markus, Karen, Mona & Franzi – for their support and the big fun we had :)

Wish you fast recovery ;)
Sandra & Andy
